wales tom demac has already proved prolific as a producer constantly putting out genre defying, funky and ingenious hybrid house. also his debut for liebe*detail, >draw me in< takes on a strong and bass-heavy approach, with tight drums and freaky vocal-snippets melting together into a mutant jam of seismic proportions. reduced, casual and yet deadly cool, its a welcome additions to toms excellent production catalogue!

we are so proud to welcome the talented producer from chicago, kate simko, known for her great work on spectral. kate send us 2 amazing pieces of music... a-side, >lost in time<, made during a trip in argentina, shows the deep, intense and intimist sides of kate music. dark grooves lead by an amazing atmosfere made of pads, synths and keys... like dop said... they were in love with it, and wanted to remix it badly. on the b-side, the dop remix is a great reinterpretation of the track with a pop feeling, where jaw bring his vocals. another version of the remix, a really and special one will be released in 2010 on eklo. the second track gets in a more housey feeling, but still deep with famous kates rhodes/synthssounds, and a great toms hooks leading the track through her groovy organic and analogue rhythm.

the soul square were born in 2005, when 3 french hip hop beatmakers (arshitect, guan jay & permone) influenced with the same musical roots (mainly jazz, soul, funk?,) decided to work together. on the same year, they released their first remix album, the fresh touch, available for free on the web...

coloured vinyl! yoshihiro hanno aka radiq is a highly acclaimed musician and composer from japan, now living and working between tokyo and paris. he did releases on imprints like sub rosa, logistic and progressive form. hanno worked with the new japan philharmonic orchestra as well as arto lindsey or ryuichi sakamoto. besides he got international fame as a composer for different film scores including work with asian movie master hou hsiao-hsien and film director jia zhang-ke. radiq is since some time well aligned with the philpot camp. when he and soulphiction met again last year during the philpot tour in japan, co-operation was affirmed and tracks were committed. two of those funky nuggets are released here, one coming with a brilliant soulphiction remix treatment. >thanks for purchasing a real copy!!<

and now here they are together ... it all started in 2006 when hell dropped in to meet ferry at his west london studio. at first they discussed hell remixing an old roxy music track, and then it turned into something else - something new (u can dance).
they had similar impressions of one another — hell: >i was impressed by his aura and his look.<, ferry: >he impressed us with his sophistication and charm.< fast forward a few years later, and hell is hard at work on teufelswerk and putting the finishing touches on the aforementioned song titled >u can dance<, a serpentine moroder-esque disco burner. with the help of old friend peter kruder, of kruder and dorfmeister fame, hell fashioned the song into a smoldering nine-minute highlight of the double disc set, in which ferry turns in a typically assured vocal performance.

a new year, a new basics! david moleon on this favourite future techno funk label. he delivers in style as usual with his heavy layered beats, light percussion and funky basslines. this is a 3 track ep that will work the dancefloor in any club! big!

okains dj career kicked off back in 1999, when at the tender age of 15 he began spinning regularly at parties. influenced by french legend laurent garnier, it wasnt long before he was offered his first residency. since then, he has gone on to play at the hottest of paris nightspots, including the rex club and social club. through playing at the now famous dimuschi parties he teamed up with paul ritch. after some time studying in sound engineering, the pair released their first ep under their handycraft alias on kickboxer. since the success of that >le bal masque< ep, okain has gone on to release on labels including robotronic, bpitch control, four twenty, tsuba, quartz and of course jetaime, and has been fully blooded in the art of touring. gigs have flooded in, and his travels have seen play many of europe s finest nightspots. his >blackrock< ep on quartz earlier this year found fantastic success with so many of you, and today our good friend is back, with the awesome >acrobat<.
the original sees okain take the warm, techy path. a lo-slung groove leads us into the melodic strings. matched with sharp efx, strong beats and a demonic laugh, this is a sure fire winner. first on remix duty is label head alex dee. toughening proceedings, alex creates a driving, somewhat tribal work out. relentless beats work brilliantly with the now chopped vocal, to create dramatic tension that builds to a crescendo in the break. a fantastic mix. a great package already, and one that just got even better with the edition of daniel mehlharts incredible rework. the frankfurt producer is hot property right now, and this mix showcases perfectly just why. deep, warm and moody, with huge helpings of classic detroit touches, the originals strings are accompanied by weighty synth stabs, to stunning effect. essential.

hailing from sao paulo, wehbba is one of the latest additions to brazils techno ambassadors. having contributed heavily to tronic in 2009 with an ep and his acclaimed rework of jim rivers full tilt track, wehbba is headlining the inaugural tronic treatment compilation to be released in february. wehbbas talent as a dj / producer have taken him on a worldwide journey that has seen his powerful, rhythmical and emotive productions appear on some of the scenes most influential labels including global underground, get physical, great stuff, audio therapy and urbr.
sweet spot sees wehbba push a housier sound from previous work, focusing on swaying beats and a deep-edged ambience. the sweeter mix toughens the groove and takes the track into more late-night territory.
brother keeps the vibe of the ep on a deeper tip to complete this fresh sounding ep. centered on an epic groove of building chords and sweeping vocal refrain the dancefloor punch comes from a heavy pulsing bassline.

2017 repress, with jamie and i being die hard fans of prince, i knew that once we sat down to work on this >prince-like< vocal track, the outcome might turn out epic… and it did! >nasty things< became an instant anthem for our dj sets. two takes on the talking heads on the reverse to round it all out

deep a & biri have been involved in the tel aviv house scene for some time. with this 3 track ep plus digital bonus track they give their debut now.
>twisted tango< is the most stripped down of all three tracks and a real cool groover. one of these tracks that grow enormously with volume and space. these two guys have got a good vision of how dance music should be to clad the clubbers in cotton batting. their cool way of transmitting indifference has always been the carrier of sensuality and sexiness in entertainment and it does create a certain kind of peppermint stench here. the vocals stabs in this one work like dubby elements which deep a & biri drop like things dropping out of your pocket.
>mischievous< is a perfect bassline monster... deep and heavy with a genius >pam pam< vocal stab. we dont know where these samples come from but they are luscious as hell. welcome to the pleasure dome!
>hine gama< is as cool as the two other tracks but but a little more laissez-faire fair. we dont think that anybody will be able to resist this bright light brown colour it shows with all its reflections of intensive sunbeams shining in.
this release fits perfectly to the last release on trapez ltd.

title track >play the music< kicks off the ep in understated but highly effective style. forged from a brooding low-down bass with plenty of wiggle this track cuts a heavy mechanical groove through waves of sci-fi effects as it builds and drops.
>funky junkie< pumps up the tempo for a full-on ride through funked-uppercussive techno. centered on a groove of big heavy kicks and jacking snaresthis inventive vocal track joins the dots between early chicago house and techno.

danish synth-rock band turboweekends first release in the uk is an atmospheric yet heartfelt cry of regret on the a-side and a jumpy celebration of the end of work obligations (with an ironic twist) on the b-side, featuring the royal company of bristols finest, joker, and indie prince russell lissack from bloc party.

>el condor< by pele closes a great 2009 for the label and maintains the quality levels in fine style. with just a handful of original releases since 2005, mostly for the impeccable connaisseur imprint, patrick gallenmüller aka pele has managed to make a disproportionate impact on housemusic. his releases and remixes have seen massive support and a quick check on his myspace reveals a dj diary of artists twice as prolific - a testament to the quality of his work (and his djing). the title cut of this threetrack/one remix ep sees the bavarian producer present a track which combines the simplest of elements into a hynpotic yet memorable track.
